Pontoon Hydrokinetic-PV Systems

Hydrokinetic power refers to the generation of electricity from moving water without impoundments or diversionary structures that are typically used at conventional hydropower facilities. New invented JET technology operates in open rivers, canals, tidal areas and ocean streams. It is a new high efficient standard of conversions of water kinetic energy to usable power thank to number of patented radical new technical solutions based on JET augmented turbine rotors. The invented JET hydrokinetic power plants designs include both horizontal and vertical JET turbines. It is basically surface-suspended systems, is also deployable downstream from existing hydropower facilities, which allows for new, environmentally- friendly power generation within the existing project footprint.

Pontoon based Solar PV is best hybrid power plant solution for pontoon underwater hydrokinetic facilities. Over water PV modules are fixed on the same pontoon structure that supported under water hydrokinetic turbines. That is economical feasible power solution.

The JET turbine is completely submerged below the flow of water. The linear kinetic energy of the water is used for giving rotation torque to the turbine. The water passing through the turbine forces the turbine to rotate with low speed but at a high torque. When the linear kinetic velocity of the water is two meter per minute the turbine starts to rotate with a speed of 15 - 30 r.p.m. in depend on the turbine size and flow velocity. A gear mechanism is used to convert slow turbine  rotation to a considerable requirement of coupled electric generator, hydraulic pump. The slow rotational speed of the turbine is not affect of the under water life and not limited the  fish migration.

The turbine blades are fitted to a central hub or around a rim for open center turbine  modifications.

All inventions related to the hydro JET turbine applications are based on JET force creating an additional rotating JET torque. It is a radical new solution. Thanks to it the turbine efficiency is increased up to 2 times for both lift and drag devices on the vertical, inclined and horizontal axis hydro / wind rotors of axial and cross flow rotors. All JET augmented turbines are self starting devices at very low flow stream.

Economical advantages

All economical advantages of ROTOJET technology is based of the high conversion efficiency of the transformation of flow kinetic energy to usable power. Hydrokinetic power plants are dam less hydroelectric facilities - there is no need for a dam. Economically it is a better bet as construction and installation cost is about 5 times lower, as compared to hydro-electric, steam or any other power plant where even a micro hydel generator plants. The maintenance cost is also quite low compared to the conventional hydroelectric power plant. Its efficiency is greater than 70%. That is why the cost of power generated is lower, as compared to any other power plants. In addition -  hydrokinetic power plants are nature friendly solutions that cost money, as well.

Based on new invented ROTOJET fluid kinetic energy converters are developing number of  hydrokinetic JET rotor designs. Each of them is full scalable. JET rotor/blades concept require new line of hydrofoil  cross section, new plan form, new pitch and twist designs, new hub etc. In addition we have developed complete new ROTOJET power system "flow - blade - rotor - drive train - electric generator - power controller/inverter" ROTOJET power system design is easy tailored to the specific flow conditions (velocity, turbulence etc.) to achieve much better system capacity factor.
